The
Office of Diversity and Equity (ODE) has several important mandates.
The overall goal of the office is to support “the University’s
commitment to diversity, multiculturalism, social equality, and
affirmative action by providing advice and services.” The
office is responsible for monitoring the University’s employment
systems and its compliance of the Americans with Disabilities
Act. ODE also prepares the University’s Affirmative Action
plan, and advises the University’s top administrators on
equity and civil rights issues. The office is also the primary
investigative unit for all pre-litigation discrimination and harassment
complaints filed against the University. ODE is committed to promoting
a positive campus environment through its diversity training programs
and its projects for retaining women and minorities.
