Diversity at the University of Connecticut embraces racial and ethnic minorities, women, and people with disabilities, individuals of diverse sexual orientations, and individuals of varying social and economic groups.

As a public university, we are dedicated to creating an academic environment that celebrates the rich diversity of our campus and the communities we serve. This section of diversity-web maps programs and resources available across campus that contributes to achieving that goal. The variety and range of the programs suggest how much our progress depends on the broad engagement of the individuals and the many constituencies making up UConn.

Diversity Offices at UConn plan and implement programs, activities, and workshops for students that encourage the development of intercultural maturity and help to prepare students to live and work in a diverse, multicultural world.

Through programming the diversity offices provide opportunities for students to:

  • Explore their own culture and background,
  • Understand the experiences and perspectives of others in relation to their own,
  • Engage in dialogue with students different from themselves, and
  • Develop skills associated with intercultural maturity.
