Multicultural
Faculty
We have also made significant progress in the ethnic and racial
composition of our full time faculty. Of the 1,165 full time faculty
members, 16.1% are members of ethnic and racial minority groups
(Asian Americans, Native Americans, African Americans, and Latinos),
which is a significant increase from 1985, when just 7% of the
faculty were from minority groups. The percentage of full time
faculty members from underrepresented groups (Native Americans,
African Americans, and Latinos) increased from 3.5% in 1985 to
7% in 2002. The gender diversity of the faculty also continues
to increase. Today, women compose 30.4% of the full time faculty,
up from 20.2% in 1985.
