Involvement
in all aspects of your academic and social life is key to success
at the University of Connecticut. College is a time when students
go through many physical, emotional, and intellectual changes.
Becoming involved with faculty and staff, peers, and student organizations
and activities on campus is a wonderful way to ensure that you
get the most out of your UConn experience and broadly expose yourself
to diversity issues on campus.
We
believe that having the ability to interact and work in diverse
environments is critically important to being a successful professional
and citizen in the 21st Century. Cultural events, information
workshops, and course work promoting communication across cultures
and experiences are all designed to help students develop these
skills.
Six
multicultural centers provide a visible symbol of our commitment
to diversity and desire to prepare all of our students for all
leadership. They are the African American Cultural Center, Asian
American Cultural Center, the International Center, the Puerto
Rican and Latino Cultural Center, the Rainbow Center, and the
Women’s Center. We encourage you to visit and become involved
in their programs, or stop through during your visits to campus,
as they will greatly broaden and expand your perspective and exposure
to diversity.
We
encourage you to explore this aspect of Diversity Web to learn
more about student organizations, academic diversity, social life
at UConn and more.
